Shakib Withdrew from IPL 2023 Due to Family Reasons
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was supposed to play for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League. However, Shakib Al Hasan suddenly withdrew from IPL 2023. The main reasons behind Shakib’s withdrawal from the IPL 2023 are the busy schedule of the national team and the strict decision of the Cricket Board of Bengal (BCB). Because the board did not exempt not only Shakib but also Liton Kumar Das because of the national team’s game.
Shakib Al Hasan could not join the Kolkata team from the start. Instead of Shakib, Kolkata has already added another cricketer to the team. This year’s IPL started on May 31 during the only Test against Ireland. Whereas in the Test format, Shakib is the captain and Liton Das is the vice-captain. However, Mostafizur Rahman has joined the team since the beginning of the IPL without playing Tests.
The media could not talk to Shakib about withdrawing from the IPL because of the game. However, after the Test against Ireland on Friday (April 7), he gave the answer of not playing the IPL at the press conference.
Shakib said, “It was definitely a good opportunity. It would be great if I could go to the World Cup in India. But because it’s a family emergency, it’s a family emergency.” Liton Das is going to play despite Shakib pulling himself out of the IPL due to family reasons. As the Test against Ireland is over, Lytton may fly to India today.
