Bangladeshi Business Woman Nafisa Kamal Wants to Buy a Team in PSL

Comilla Victorians is the most successful team in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).  As per the news from Pakistani media, Bangladeshi journalist Nafisa Kamal showing her interest to buy a team in PSL. Nafisa Kamal also owns a team in BPL and won four BPL trophies.

However, due to the agreement between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the existing six PSL franchises, there is no possibility of additional teams in the PSL for the next two seasons.

In February this year, PCB chairman Najam Shetty said, ‘There is a lot of pressure to increase the number of teams in the PSL, but unfortunately Ehsan Mani and Ramiz Raja (two former PCB chairmen) have made an agreement with the franchises that only six teams will play in the next two years.

However, this was an eight-team project. We have to convince the franchisees to include two more teams. No one will lose anything, and if any franchise suffers a loss, the PCB will take responsibility.

Najam Sethi added, ‘But there is a high demand to include two more teams and it will be more successful, many people are interested to be a part of it. Even if there were 10 teams instead of 8, they would have been sold due to high demand.’

It needs to be mentioned here that PSL was initially a five-franchise-based tournament, but later Multan Sultans joined the tournament in the third edition. Currently, there are 6 teams in PSL – Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, and Quetta Gladiators.

If the league increases to 8, the two new parties may be named after the two cities of Pakistan, Faisalabad, and Sialkot. If Nafisa Kamal gets the ownership, the team can be named – Faisalabad Victorians or Sialkot Victorians.
