Virat Kohli becomes top T20I run-getter
India’s Skipper Virat Kohli on Wednesday became the Top T20I run-getter after playing an unbeaten 72-runs punch to defeat South Africa.
Kohli now has 2,441 runs to his credit in the shortest format of the 77-game, beating teammate Rohit Sharma, who has 2,434 runs from 97 games. The third-place occupied by New Zealand hitter Martin Guptill with 2,283 runs.
Kohli’s tickets helped India secure a massive seven-wicket victory over the Proteas at the PCA stadium in Mohali.
The first T20I abandoned due to rain, and with this victory, India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
The third T20I between India and South Africa to play on 22 September at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
