Three Sri Lanka U-19 players found drunk during Asia Cup 2019

Three players from the Sri Lanka Under-19 team were found drunk at the hotel after the recent abandoned match in the Asian Cup semi-final against India, learned here.

According to sources in Sri Lanka, the incident occurred after the referees stated that the match could not be played due to rain and players returned early to their hotel rooms.

The source has revealed the names of the school players involved but asked that it not make it public so as not to ruin their careers.

Among these three, two are the batters and one a spinner and are students of the school/university.

“They were drunk, and then they threw up in the hotel hallway. They called the doctor immediately and took blood samples, and the results were positive,” the source said.

“A representative of the School Boys Association, who is also a member of Ex-Co, suggested a heavy punishment and, consequently, will not be selected for the upcoming Bangladesh U-19 tour,” the source added.
