The defending champions of the Women’s Big Bash League, the Brisbane Heat, have signed the all-rounder Amelia Kerr for the 2019 season, the club announced on Sunday. This is the team’s first international signing for the season.
Amelia Kerr Signing in Brisbane Heat Said:
Many White Ferns players have had the opportunity to play in the WB BL and I know it is highly appreciated all over the world. Now I have the opportunity to play and I’m sure it will be a great experience.
“I’ve seen it regularly at home and I was very impressed by the way the Heat won the title last year. Kerr has had an impressive international career so far.
The 18-year-old made her T20I debut in 2016 and has played 24 games since racking up 23 wickets. In the ODI format, he holds the highest score record in the format, when he scored 232 against Ireland in 2018 and broke Belinda Clark’s long-standing record.
Heats Coach Ashley Noffke Said That
“Anyone who has followed cricket would know that Amelia is a pretty special talent. We’ve enjoyed having her with the Queensland Fire Squad this week and it showed pretty quickly how focused and determined she is. It’s exciting to welcome you to our club and we’re looking forward to seeing it in action when the season starts soon.
