Suresh Raina left IPL 2020 for the safety of children

Thirteen Chennai Super Kings players, including two cricketers, tested positive in the Corona Test in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. They are pacer Deepak Chahar and Rituraj Gaikwad.

Chennai left-arm batsman Suresh Raina withdrew from 13 matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) the day after the team’s corona was declared positive. Chennai chief executive KS Bishwanath said Raina had suddenly left.

He tweeted at the time, ‘Suresh Raina has returned to the country for personal reasons. He will not be available in the IPL this time. However, Chennai will have full support for Suresh and his family.

Indian media has given different reasons for Raina’s departure from this year’s IPL.  But Suresh Raina left IPL 2020 for the safety of children. “Nothing is more important than the child,” Raina said.

Raina, meanwhile, was attacked by robbers at her uncle’s home in Dubai. Suresh Raina’s uncle Ashok Kumar was killed in the attack.

Ashok, 56, was killed in a robbery at his home in Pathankot, Punjab, on the night of August 20 (Thursday). Four other members of his family were also seriously injured.
