Sri Lanka Bowler Akila Dananjaya Banned from Bowling

At an announcement on Thursday, the International Cricket Council banned Sri Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya from bowling for 12 months. Dananjaya was reported for his bowling action in the first Test against New Zealand last month. Dananjaya was the subject of an independent assessment of his bowling in Chennai on 29 August.

The results showed that Dananjaya’s action was illegal. In December 2018, the ICC banned Dananjaya for the same reason. The suspension was lifted in February 2019 after Dananjaya made some changes to his bowling game and underwent a reassessment.
