Sri Lanka beats England by 20-runs, First Up-set in World Cup 2019
Sri Lanka beat the tournament’s favorite England in the 27th game of the 2019 ICC World Cup in Headingley. Superb bowling by Sri Lankan despite setting a low chasing total against that team which is capable of scoring more than 400-runs. Batting first Sri Lanka manages to score only 232-9 in 50-overs and at that moment it was looking like England will win comprehensively. But, what an upset done by Sri Lankan Team as they manage to restrict the Host team on 212 runs.
Superbly bowled by all bowlers that bowled under pressure but what an outstanding bowling figures by Lasith Malinga who took 4 wickets the best 4 England’s Batsmen that ultimately lead Sri Lanka to do a major upset in this ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. While Chasing down the low target England lose some early wickets but a little bit partnership again set the track for England to achieve the target. Lasith bought into the attack and destroyed the batting line up hosting side while there is only one Batsman who keeps the hopes alive for England.
Ben Stokes tried his best to heal the damage done by the Sri Lankan team as he stayed on the crease to chase down the target but none of his partners participated with him to help reach the target and win the game. Ben Stokes struck two major blows in deep overs and at that moment it was the great scenario to watch because Stokes was in great form and no doubt he could handle all the pressure easily.
The big mistake done by Ben Stokes that he gets off the strike while two balls to spare in the over which gives Mark Wood a strike. Mark wood tried to beat the ball but the brilliant delivery gets an edge and caught behind the wicket. This is the second major upset in this Tournament and amazingly the victim is again England who is so far called the hot favorite team to win the contest. Earlier Pakistan outclasses England in the tournament and now Sri Lanka has done the damage as they win by 20-runs in the thrilling contest. Lasith Malinga is declared as the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling figures 4/43.
