Spectacled Smith slammed for mocking England Jack Leach

Spectacled Steve Smith slammed for allegedly mocking England bowler Jack Leach

Steve Smith once again turned out to be England’s leading tormentor when Australia defeated England by 185 runs in the fourth Test and retained the Ashes at Old Trafford. However, there was a controversy after Australia’s famous victory in Manchester, as the English media accused Steve Smith of mocking the English spinner Jack Leach.

After the presentation ceremony, Smith photographed entering the center of a group of team, wiping off a pair of glasses before showing the left-handed Batsmen just like English player Jack Leach. Smith’s celebration appeared to be a cruel parody of Leach, who forced to clean his glasses regularly during his blow alongside Ben Stokes in the third test that England won by a wicket at Headingley.

Several English fans also expressed anger on social media against Smith and said the former Australian captain’s celebrations were not tasteful.

However, Australia’s head coach, Justin Langer, has denied the allegations and claimed that Chris Rogers was the inspiration behind Smith’s party.

Australia, with an undisputed 2-1 lead in the five-match series, will now face England in the Final Trial that begins Thursday at the Oval.
