South Africa’s tour of the West Indies and Sri Lanka has been canceled
South Africa’s tour of the West Indies and Sri Lanka has been canceled indefinitely amid deadly coronavirus. Cricket South Africa (CSA) director Graeme Smith confirmed the matter.
“The West Indies tour has been postponed indefinitely,” Smith said. If the government of our country gives permission, the visit may take place in the beginning of September.
Regarding the postponement of the Sri Lanka tour, Smith said, “The Sri Lanka tour has also been postponed. I hope that if everything goes well, the visit to Sri Lanka can take place in November.
South Africa was scheduled to travel to the West Indies in July-August this year to play a series of two Tests and five Twenty20 matches.
The Proteas were also scheduled to play three ODIs and a T20 series in Sri Lanka last June. However, two series of deadly coronaviruses were postponed.
