Similarities between 1992 and 2019 ICC World Cup
When Pakistan’s Cricket team slogan for the 2019 World Cup “We Have, We Will,” was launched. It was explained that the idea behind the slogan was to declare that Pakistan has won the World Cup in the past and will do it again. At the moment it seems that history is repeating itself only for Pakistan. So, we are only looking at the Pakistani team in the past and now. But remember Pakistan’s fate is almost in other team’s hand.
And, it seems that Pakistan, in 2019, tried to do it the same way it did in 1992. Until now, Pakistan’s track record and the situation in the tournament are no different than it was 27 years ago. Believe it or not, the results of the first six games in 2019 are the same as Pakistan’s results in the first 6 games in 1992. Pakistan had lost to the West Indies in the opening game on both occasions. Before winning their second and third games were eliminated, in 1992 and 2019.
Can Pakistan win in the same way as they Did in 1992
As at the 1992 World Cup, Pakistan was defeated in its fourth and fifth games of the 2019 World Cup and before winning the sixth, again on both occasions. Making it more interesting, the man from the Pakistan party on both occasions was “Sohail”, Amir in 1992 and Haris in 2019. In 1992, Pakistan hoped that Australia’s victory against the West Indies would remain in discards; once again Pakistan wants Australia to win for them, this time against England.
And, the list of coincidences has a more interesting fact New Zealand was undefeated in the 1992 World Cup before meeting Pakistan. They are also undefeated in this tournament and will face Pakistan on Wednesday. With so many similarities between 1992 and 2019, fans in Pakistan expect the same result to bring the trophy back home once again.
