Sharjeel Khan Included in the Pakistan Squad for Upcoming Series
Pakistan opener Sharjeel Khan, who was banned from engaging in fixing in the Pakistan Super League, included in the Pakistan national team squad with a great performance in that PSL. The opener Sharjeel Khan has been called up for the series against South Africa and Zimbabwe, as PCB announced the Pakistan Squad for the Upcoming Series 2021.
Sharjeel Khan has done well with the bat in the recently suspended sixth edition of the PSL 6, playing five matches in the tournament and scoring the third-highest 200 runs at an average of 40. Sharjeel is the only cricketer to score a century in this year’s event.
He has done well in other domestic cricket leagues as well, so the selectors of the Pakistan cricket team could no longer ignore Sharjeel. However, the return of a cricketer involved in the fixing has sparked criticism in Pakistan, which they say is sending the wrong message to youngsters.
However, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Laffit does not want to think about that. “If you don’t want cricketers like Aamir and Sharjeel to play in the national team anymore, you should have set that precedent when Aamir returned, now you can’t say anything, ” he said.
Although he is not dissatisfied with Sharjeel’s return, Rashid does not see his place in the XI. The former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman said, “I think the selection committee or Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Wasim Khan have picked Sharjeel, but it will be difficult for him to get a place in the XI.”
