Shahid Afridi hosts dinner for Michael Holding in Karachi

The former Pakistani captain Shahid Afridi hosts a dinner for former West Indies bowler Michael Holding at his residence in Karachi on Sunday night.

Holding, 65, is in Karachi (although he is not in any commentary assignment) and is an ODI witness between Pakistan and the Sri Lankan visiting team. His visit to Afridi’s house was made possible by his mutual friend, Dr. Kashif Ansari, a cancer surgeon in the United States.

“Well, Afridi is not only a great ambassador of the game but also peace, love and humanity. I’ve known him for many years. Your father was my patient. He carries his father’s legacy,” Dr Kashif Ansari, speaking exclusively on the phone from Karachi, he said.

“When he found out he was coming to Pakistan with Michael Holding, my other good friend of the family and Barry Wilkinson (commentator from Barbados), Afridi was not tempted to invite us to his home.”

Afridi cooked and served dishes for the guests.

During the party, Holding was unable to hide his disappointment at the T-20s being played in the world.

“Holding is not a T-20 fan, but he loves Test cricket and said that the game is no longer a gentleman’s game, but has become the money-making machine. Holding also talked about how cricket was played about 20-30 years ago. and now.”

“He also discussed how Test Grill would focus more together with ODI. He also talked about the roles of referees, match referees, curators, pitch conditions, etc.,” Dr Ansari concluded.

Former Pakistani opening batsmen Saeed Anwar was also present at the party.
