Rishabh Pant Breaks MS Dhoni’s Record
Rishabh Pant lived to his potential by winning a winning match as India beat the West Indies by six wickets in Guyana to record a complete sweep. Pant played an undefeated 65 runs inning and, in doing so, broke the MS Dhoni record for a long time.
By taking the first wicket of West Indies, the beginnings were mediocre, the first three failing in the power play all fallen victims of Deepak Chahar. Since then, Kieron Pollard and Nicholas Pooran have stabilized the ship with a partnership of half a century. Pollard hit the ball gently and was aggressive against the spinners. He hit a maximum of six shots on a 58-shot strike. Navdeep Saini represented the two batsmen. Just as India was looking to finish off in style, Rovman Powell’s cameo propelled the hosts to a near-150-score score.
The target was not a problem as India pursued it convincingly. They were annoyed at 27 for two, but Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant beat their sleeves beautifully. Whereby their time, played cricket safely for a while before going up the throttle. They sewed a 106-inning partnership for the third wicket and ticked their respective 50s before Virat threw it away at the end. But Pant followed him to the end and removed the target from five balls as he responded to his criticisms in style.
Rishabh Pant remained undefeated on 65 runs and thus, broke MS Dhoni’s record of the highest score by an Indian wicket errand in a T20I. The former Indian skipper held the record when he hit 56 against England in Bengaluru in 2017. Dhoni’s 52 goals against South Africa at Centurion are now third on the list of top scores for an Indian T20I cricket batsman.
