Pollard Replaces Bravo as Trinbago Knight Riders Captain, CPL 2019

Pollard Replaces Dwayne Bravo as Trinbago Knight Riders Captain in Carribean Premier Leauge, CPL 2019

West Indies’s Kieron Pollard replaces Dwayne Bravo as Captain of Trinbago Knight Riders for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League, CPL 2019 after Bravo suffered a finger injury during a practice session. Bravo will also be missing a significant portion of the T20 league, the franchise announced in its statement.

in 2019, Dwayne Bravo unavailability is a big blow to the three-time Carribean Premier League champions, as he had taken them to three CPL titles so far. In 2015, Trinbago Knight Riders, then known as Trinidad and Tobago’s red steel, defeated the Barbados Tridents led by Pollard in the final. Under Bravo, TKR repeated its heroics and titles won in 2017 and 2018.

-Trinbago Knight Rider’s Director Venky Mysore Statement-

It’s a very unfortunate injury, and we’re going to miss Dwayne Bravo a lot. However, we are lucky to have someone of Kieron Pollard’s caliber to take over the reins of Bravo. His leadership skills are well-tested and, like Bravo, he will bring a very aggressive style as a captain in TKR’s quest for a third consecutive championship.

-Colin Munro Misses out Three Matches-

TKR will also miss Colin Munro’s services for his first three matches. He is part of the New Zealand team for the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka. He replaced by Lendl Simmons for the first three games.

In addition to the new captain, TKR will also have a new coach, as his former batter Brendon McCullum will coach the three-time T20 league champions. The franchise had split with head coach Simon Katich, who was also the assistant coach at Kolkata Knight Riders.

Caribbean Premier League, CPL 2019 begins on September 5 with defending champions TKR against San Cristobal and Nevis Patriots at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.
