PM Modi can bring MS Dhoni back to T20 World 2021
Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni abruptly retired from international cricket on Saturday evening (August 16), India’s Independence Day. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can bring MS Dhoni back to the national team for next year’s T20 World Cup 2021 on Indian soil, according to Pakistan’s speedster Shoaib Akhtar.
The Pakistani speedster said on his YouTube channel, “Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi may request Dhoni to play in next year’s T20 World Cup on Indian soil. Dhoni will not be able to return the request of the Prime Minister.
Dhoni has not played for India since July 2019. That was the semi-final of the England World Cup. After Dhoni’s retirement, many have said that he wanted to retire from the national team after playing in the T20 World Cup this year, proving himself in the 13th edition of the IPL.
But this year the IPL has been delayed by six months due to Corona and the T20 World Cup has been postponed by two years. Even then, according to the old schedule, the T20 World Cup will be held on Indian soil in October next year. So with 14 months left until the World Cup, Dhoni announced his retirement on India’s Independence Day. The two World Cup-winning captains did not want to prolong the speculation about his retirement.
However, Dhoni can be seen on the field again, the Rawalpindi Express thinks. “Indian Prime Minister Modi can only request Dhoni to play in the next T20 World Cup,” he said. I think there is a possibility. Pakistan’s Imran Khan retired from cricket in 1986. But later on, General Zia-ul-Haq of Pakistan requested Imran to continue playing cricket.
Imran kept his word and played. Imran later retired in 1992. So at Modi’s request, Dhoni can return to cricket. And it will not be possible for Dhoni to return Modi’s request. In that case, Dhoni can be seen on the field again.
Dhoni has won two World Cups as a captain and the ICC Champions Trophy. Dhoni also has a lot of fame to finish the match as a player. But many cannot accept the retirement of such a cricketer in world cricket. Former Shoaib captain Inzamam-ul-Haq has also recently commented on Dhoni’s retirement.
Inzamam said, ‘Dhoni has millions of fans all over the world. Dhoni’s fans were looking forward to seeing him on the field again. But he decided to retire. He also sat at home again. In my opinion, it is not appropriate for a cricketer of this size to retire at home. He should have retired from the field.
Shoaib also wants Dhoni to retire from the field. “India is ready to give a farewell match to Dhoni,” he said. If Dhoni doesn’t want it himself, that’s a different matter. I would like the stadium to be full if Dhoni wants to say goodbye after playing two T20 matches. That is how he should retire. ‘
