The Pakistan Cricket Board announced some important news today in Islamabad. PCB and its cricket committee will meet on August 2 at the National Cricket Academy on Friday.
The committee’s agenda includes reviewing Pakistan’s men’s and women’s cricket teams. As well as they will review the performance of the under-19 cricket teams and making recommendations to the PCB president.
Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mickey Arthur and Sarfaraz Ahmed also invited to attend the meeting. And will provide feedback and assessments on the performance of the men’s team after the meeting. Wasim Akram will join the meeting via the video call, while the rest of the members will attend personally.
The cricket committee is likely to send recommendations to the president to hand over the reins of the national team’s one-day captaincy. Pakistan New Captain is likely to be one from Muhammad Hafeez, Imad Wasim, and Babar Azam.
The committee will send the results of the meeting to PCB President Ehsan Mani. The PCB cricket committee is an advisory panel whose task is to make recommendations to the PCB president.
The Committee Members
The committee is lead by PCB Managing Director Wasim Khan. And it includes former men’s and women’s team captains and legends like Wasim Akram, Misbah-ul-Haq and Urooj Mumtaz. As well as it includes Zakir Khan (Director – International Secretary of Cricket and Committee), Mudassar Nazar (Director – Academies) and Haroon Rashid (Director – National Cricket).
The meeting will discuss the assignment of the ODI captaincy to any of Muhammad Hafeez, Imad Wasim, and Babar Azam. To a question, about Sarfaraz Ahmed’s fate, he said he could be held to lead only on the Side of the Test. PCB is also considering appointing a local coach for the national team, however, the name has not yet been finalized, he said.
