Glamorgan Cricket confirmed that he had signed Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman (the opening batsmen), for the first eight games of the T20 Blast.
The 29-year-old is available for Glamorgan’s initial eight matches in the competition as a replacement for Shaun Marsh. Marsh was injured during the Australian World Cup campaign; Glamorgan said that in a statement Monday. Zaman played 89-runs T20 games in his career, including 30 IT20s and scored more than 2,300 runs in the format with an average of 28runs and a strike rate of almost 140.
He also holds a solid ODI record with nearly 2,000 runs with an average of 45 and the highest score of 210* against Zimbabwe in 2018 for Pakistan. Fakhar was also part of the Pakistan team that won the 2017 Champions Trophy and scored a century in the final against India.
Fakhar Zaman said: I am delighted to sign for Glamorgan and look forward to playing in Cardiff. I have good memories of the terrain of our Champions Trophy semi-final here in 2017 and I hope to make some new ones. Glamorgan is a fantastic club and I look forward to performing some match-winning performances for the team during my stay.
Cricket director Mark Wallace said that it’s disappointing to lose Shaun Marsh to the start of the competition, but securing Fakhar’s services at short notice is great news for the club. He’s a fantastic cricketer and one of the most destructive hitters in the world who has a track record of performing in big games. We hope you’ll join us later this week and we hope you’ll be ready to play our first match against Somerset and start running.
