Pakistan Squad for ODI Series Against Sri Lanka

Pakistan announced 16 members squad for a three-game ODI series against Sri Lanka, played from 27 September to 2 October in Karachi. Abid Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Usman Shinwari and Mohammad Hasnain recalled.

Two major changes also made after fast bowlers ShaheenAfridi, and Hasan Ali excluded due to illness and injury. Afridi has dengue fever while Hasan ruled out because of a back spasm.

“Hassan was originally part of the team, but he felt a spasm in his back yesterday. According to the physiotherapist, he cannot be part of the team at this time. Let’s see how quickly he’ll be fit,” head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq said as he announces the names at a press conference in Lahore on Saturday.

Misbah added that his team would not underestimate its opponents because 10 Sri Lankan players refused to go around Pakistan, citing security concerns.

“These are the only games over 50 we’ve played this season, and we want to make the most of it. During my cricket career, I realize that there was no easy match or an easy opponent. ”
When asked why he had not included any new players in the team, Misbah said he had no problem selecting new players, but that the Pakistani side is not a laboratory for testing players.
“We will only choose players who are physically fit and performed well enough to be seriously considered. In the past, we had chosen players prematurely. After one or two matches, they struggled to cope with the pressures of international cricket. “

The three T20I teams against Sri Lanka in Lahore will unveil during the one-day series. Until then, the other players in the likely camp will continue to train at the NCA.
