After Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) decided to seek the help of his government to conduct a reassessment of the security situation in Pakistan before the Sri Lanka tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reiterated its commitment to providing security Lankan’s side.
“We have seen SLC’s statement, but we are not aware of any information or intelligence reports related to the security of the SL team. The PCB reiterates its commitment to providing complete security next to SL and in this relationship will continue to work with the SLC,” PCB tweeted.
The PCB tweet comes after the SLC issued a statement Wednesday seeking government assistance for a security reassessment in Pakistan.
“The decision made after a warning received by the SLC from the Prime Minister’s Office sent by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Foreign Employment, and Sports,” the statement added.
Sri Lanka is scheduled for a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series, starting on September 27. SLC said the Prime Minister’s Office received information about a possible ‘terrorist threat’ to the team.
Before September 9, ten Sri Lankan players who chose not to participate in the series and opted out of the tour of Pakistan were Lasith Malinga, Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Janith Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal, Dinesh Chandimal, and Dimuth Karunaratne.
