Pakistan Became First Team To Chase 200+ Runs in T20 Sparing 9 Wickets
Pakistan became the first team in the history of cricket to chase 200 + runs in the T20 format and win by 9 wickets. With this, Babar Azam has achieved the feat of scoring the highest run for Pakistan in T20 format.
Babar Azam also played an impeccable inning in the T20s on the day he topped the ODI batsmen rankings by removing Virat Kohli. In the best performance of his career, Pakistan easily touched the tough target of 204 runs in the third T20 against South Africa. They won by 9 wickets with 2 overs in hand.
After losing the toss on Wednesday (April 14), South Africa lost 5 wickets in 20 overs and scored 203 runs. Janeman Malan and Aiden Markram scored 108 runs in the opening over. They were also the top two scorers for the team.
Markram scored 63 runs off just 31 balls, hitting six fours and four sixes. Malan was also in rhythm. He made 55 off 40 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. After their departure, Rasi von der Dussen’s unbeaten 34 off 20 balls and George Lind’s 22 off 11 balls helped the hosts to amass a run hill.
However, Babar went down to chase the target with Mohammad Rizwan and started a riot. Pakistan got 198 runs in the opening match. Before returning to the dressing room, Babur completed a century, playing the best innings of his career in the first century of his career.
Babar scored 122 runs at a strike rate of 206.6 off just 59 balls. He made 15 fours and 4 sixes to make the Proteas bowlers helpless. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rizwan, who gave him great support, remained unbeaten on 63 off 46 balls with five fours and two sixes.
