No Future Bowler Can Break Anderson’s Record Says Sangakara
Former Sri Lankan batsman Sangakkara has praised Anderson’s achievement in an interview with the English media: I do not think any future fast bowler can break Anderson’s record. Sangakkara said that he has set a very difficult goal and his achievement will definitely not be achieved by anyone anymore.
This is because of the increasing number of T20 matches at present, with fewer Test matches being played. It is noteworthy that Anderson’s 600 Test wickets will no longer be an unbeaten record in Test cricket, as it is rare for players to play for more than 15 consecutive years.
Muralitharan tops the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets in Test cricket with 800 wickets, followed by Warne with 708 wickets and India’s Anil Kumble with 619 wickets. James Anderson, the current fast bowler in the line-up, has joined the list of highest wicket-takers by Pakistan’s Azhar Ali.
Jimmy took his 600th Test wicket yesterday, having played a total of 156 matches in Test cricket. Anderson, who started his career in 2003, has been playing for about 17 years. Injuries are more common in fast bowlers. However, he has achieved this feat by overcoming many pains due to injury.
