New Zealand Vs Siri Lanka CWC19 Match 3 Result
New Zealand won the toss and elected to bowl first in the 3rd match of cricket world cup 2019.
New Zealand took a brilliant start of World Cup 2019 as Matt Henry took three wickets to get 10 wickets to win over Siri Lanka. Henry and Ferguson shared three wickets to restrict Sri Lanka at 136 runs. Martin Guptill and Colin Munro score half a century to chase the total in 16.1 overs. Henry took responsibility in the absence of Tim Southee, who had to sit down because of a calf injury.
He knocked on the second delivery of the game to return Lahiru Thirimanne to the pavilion. Thirimanne was initially ruled out by the referee in the field, but the Kiwis reviewed the match before their call in favor after the replays suggested that it was on the line and that it went to hit the stump. Skipper Karunaratne then built a partnership of 42 runs for the second wicket with Kusal Perera. But Williamson got rid of Perera and Kusal Mendis on consecutive deliveries.
However, the skipper Dimuth Karunaratne fought to record his third ODI fifty in 81 balls before running out of partners. Karunaratne, undefeated in 52, is only the second World Cup player to wear his stick. The feat had already been achieved by Ridley Jacobs of the Antilles, who defeated Australia undefeated 49 in 1999. Colin de Grandhomme, James Neesham, Trent Boult and Mitchell Santner each took a single wicket. New Zealand will face Bangladesh on 5 June, while Sri Lanka will face Afghanistan on 4 June.
