Match Summary:

New Zealand survived a dramatic late-night response from Bangladesh to win a nerve victory during this World Cup 2019 clash. The man of the match, Ross Taylor, scored 82 runs off 91 balls before rattling of counters gave Bangladesh the chance to win a surprise victory. Paceman Mohammad Saifuddin took 2 for 41 and the spinner Mosaddek Hossain took 2 for 33 had given a glimmer of hope in Bangladesh after New Zealand was apparently heading towards a comfortable victory.

New Zealand dropped from 160-2 to 218-7, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, dismissed, Williamson and Tom Latham in the same way before Hossain dismisses Jimmy Neesham. This victory was the second victory of New Zealand after his overwhelming victory against Sri Lanka, during which he won 10 victories, and his team thirsting for victory for the first time in his World Cup career.

Bangladesh’s versatile player Shakib al Hasan did his best to mark his 200th international one-day match with a polished 64 and two wickets, but that wasn’t enough. Shakib eliminated the openers of the black caps, Martin Guptill and Colin Munro before Taylor and Williamson stabilized the sleeves at their booth of 105 points for the third window. Bangladesh, sent to the stick, lost its last six wickets for only 65 runs.
