“The New Zealand team in Pakistan is under threat,” New Zealand Cricket said in a statement. That is why we are postponing the series and going back to the country. Our security adviser said the Blackcaps would no longer play in the series.
The Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement: “New Zealand Cricket has informed us that they are being threatened. Their security inspectors were satisfied with our security protocol. That’s why they came here. ‘
The toss was not held at the earlier scheduled time. The cricketers of both the teams were kept in the hotel room due to the threat.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) allowed 20 per cent of spectators to enter the field in the series. This was the first time after the global transmission of corona that Pakistani spectators had the opportunity to watch the game on the field.
The remaining two ODIs of the series were scheduled for September 19 and 21. All the matches were to be held in Rawalpindi. After the ODI series, the T20 matches of the five-match series were to be held in Lahore.
