New Zealand recorded an impressive 18-runs victory against the tournaments favorites India in a sensational match to qualify for the final of ICC world cup 2019. It’s been for the second time in a row they reached in finals. In the first semi-final of the 2019 ICC World Cup, New Zealand defeats India to shatter the hopes of India to qualify in the Finals. New Zealand was previously defeated in the World Cup 2015 final by Australia.
New Zealand set the target of 239-8 after completing their 50 overs a day later than expected after the game’s suspension due to rain on Tuesday. But Kane Williamson’s side slid superbly into rock, with three prime wickets taken by the fast bowler Matthew Henry. Henry demonstrated the key contribution by firing pre-tournament favorites by 221.
India chasing down a low 240-runs target, not a difficult target for the two-time champions. But New Zealand bowlers did a commendable job of getting rid of the order’s top three hitters for just five runs on the board.
