IPL 2021: New Zealand Cricketers To Play Remaining Matches of Postponed IPL 14
The suspended part of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) will take place in the UAE in September this year. However, Cricket New Zealand has said that Kiwi cricketers will play the remaining IPL 2021. The Board of Cricket Control in Cricket India (BCCI) has also released the full schedule for the suspended part of the IPL. Doubts have been created about the performance of cricketers from other countries as there are international series in several countries during the IPL.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has already said that English cricketers will not be allowed to play in the IPL, citing a busy international schedule. However, Kiwi cricketers can stay in the IPL if they want, said Cricket New Zealand chief David White.
New Zealand is scheduled to play ODI and T20 series against Pakistan in September-October this year. There are three ODIs and T20s to be played in this series. The Pakistan Cricket Board has requested to play two more T20 matches in the series. Since then, New Zealand cricketers have been skeptical of the IPL game.
However, David White has said that he will give more priority to the IPL game than the Pakistan series. Various IPL franchises have fielded Ken Williamson, Trent Bolt, Jimmy Neesham, Kyle Jamieson, and Lucky Ferguson. If Kiwi cricketers are allowed to play in the IPL, New Zealand will tour Pakistan without them.
Regarding the participation of Kiwi cricketers in the IPL, Cricket New Zealand chief White said, “Our cricketers will definitely play in the suspended part of the IPL.”
