Netherlands vs England 1st ODI 2022 Highlights

England faces the Netherlands for the first time in a bilateral series. In the first bilateral series against England, England set the record for most runs in ODI and List ‘A’ history. Here are the cricket highlights of the 1st ODI match between Netherlands vs England 2022.

Batter Jos Butler has made a big contribution to setting this record, he himself has created numerous records.  When Joss Butler came on the field against the Netherlands, the English were saying that they would create a run flood. Joss Butler also walked the path of Phil Salt and David Malan on the field. From the very beginning, the Dutch bowlers have been in a rut.

He picked up the 21st half-century of his career with 26 balls. He picked up the 10th century of his career after 20 balls. With this, Joss Butler completed his century by playing less than 50 balls three times. Pakistan’s hard hitter Shahid Afridi has set the record twice before. These two batsmen have completed centuries by playing less than 50 balls more than once.

Joss Butler, who completed his half-century off 46 balls, had a chance to overtake former Proteas batsman AB de Villiers. However, he could not use that opportunity. Joss Butler, who completed 150 off the 75th ball, became the second-fastest cricketer in ODI cricket. Earlier, AB de Villiers completed 150 runs from 64 balls.

Joss Butler, who scored his 10th century for England, scored the second-fastest century for England on the same day. He also holds the record for the fastest century for the English. He scored a century off 48 balls against Pakistan in 2015. Butler also holds the record for the third-fastest century for England. He scored that century in 50 balls against Pakistan in 2019.

Joss Butler is in the top five of the list of cricketers who have completed 150 runs with the least number of balls. He broke the record twice. He had earlier scored 150 off 7 balls against the West Indies.

Liam Livingstone slammed the Netherlands towards the end of the English innings with Joss Butler. He too could have surpassed AB de Villiers in the fastest half-century. However, he could not surpass that record by scoring a half-century in the 18th ball. Earlier, AB de Villiers set a record for the fastest half-century by completing a half-century off 16 balls against the West Indies.

Livingstone has three more cricketers with a record of completing a half-century in the second-fastest time. They are Sanath Jayasuriya, Kushal Perera, and Martin Guptill. All three batsmen completed half-centuries off 18 balls.

Despite playing a record-breaking inning, England could only regret two runs. Cricket fans did not see the first 500 runs in the history of ODIs. However, the whole 50 overs of the England innings seems to be a highlight. AB de Villiers’ two records for the fastest fifty and one and a half hundred runs remained intact for a short time on the day of breaking multiple records.

The devastating ordeal of the England batsmen in the first ODI of the series against the Netherlands at Amstelveen. The host bowlers got into a scuffle. England finished their innings at 498/4, the highest team collection in ODI history. However, the previous highest collection was from England, 471/7 against Australia.

England scored 350 to 450 off just 26 balls with superhuman batting by Joss Butler and Liam Livingstone. If the last two balls of the innings had been two sixes, the milestone of the first 500 runs in ODI history would have been completed.

Liam Livingstone was on strike, and he was very confident. In the fifth delivery the ball floated in the air, but went just in front of the boundary, 4 runs came. When he hit the last ball, the score stopped at 496 runs. The English can only regret two runs or just one more ball.

It didn’t seem to break any more records that day. However, Proteas legend AB de Villiers can get great relief. He made the fastest fifty off 16 balls, today Livingstone made 16 balls. Jos Butler could not make the fastest half for just 1 ball Villiers’ record also remains intact. Butler scored 150 off 65 balls, the second-fastest in ODIs. This is the first time the England men’s team is touring the Netherlands to play an ODI series.
