Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to Bowl First in the 3rd match of IPL 2019.
Delhi Capitals stormed a 37-fold victory over the Mumbai Indians to open their account at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Star of the day was Rishabh Pant, who smashed the unbeaten 78 with 27 balls to bring Delhi to 213 for six. The Swift knock of a 21-year-old teenager included seven sixes and four each when Delhi hit 99 runs in the last six shots.
While batting first Delhi lost a young Prithvi Show, which was seven years behind Mitchell Mcclagagan. Skipper Shreyas Iyer (16) was the next when he was caught by Kieron Pollard on an additional cover at Mcclagagan, leaving Delhi in 29-2. But Shikhar Dhawan scores 43 runs and Colin Ingram made 47runs and added 83 runs partnership with a third wicket to secure the feeding of Delhi. From now on it was all Pant show.
Mcclagagan finished with the taking 3 wickets by giving 40 runs. In response, Mumbai lost the skipper Rohit Sharma for 14 runs. Quanton de Coca made 27 runs and Suryakumar Yawava made just 2runs in a powerlifter. Yuvraj Singh 53 runs added two important partnerships with Kieron Pollard of 21 runs and Kunal Pandya 32 runs to keep Mumbai afloat. But as soon as Kunal departed in the 15th over the challenge became even entertaining. Mumbai needs 80 runs in the last five overs. Yuvraj Singh had several more hits, but the home side was restricted for 176. Jasprit Bhumpra did not come out on the bat because of a shoulder injury.
