MS Dhoni will decide when he wants to quit, Says Yuvraj Singh
The endless talk about Mahendra Singh Dhoni future is “unfair” and the decision to retire falls exclusively on the winning captain of the World Cup, said his former teammate in India, Yuvraj Singh, on Tuesday.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s future in international cricket has been the subject of intense speculation since the conclusion of the ICC World Cup in July, and the same 38-year-old player has been on sabbatical for more than months.
“I think it’s unfair to him. The guy (Dhoni) done a lot for Indian cricket. He has been the most successful Indian captain, so you have to give him time, ” Yuvraj said here, on the sidelines of an event.
MS Dhoni needs to decide when she wants to leave. You need to take that call. If you still want to play, that is your decision, and we must respect that, ” added Yuvraj Singh, who was part of the T20 and 50 squads which win the trophies under Dhoni’s leadership in 2007 and 2011 alone.
Yuvraj Singh, retired from international cricket earlier this year at the age of 37, said it would be challenging to fill Dhoni’s gloves when he decides to call it a day. He also said that it is not fair to compare young Rishabh Pant to a cricket player decorated as Dhoni. “Replacing MS Dhoni will take a long time,” Yuvraj said.
