MS Dhoni Fans requested BCCI to remove Dhoni Number 7 Jersey
MS Dhoni fans have requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India BCCI to remove MS Dhoni Jersey Number 7 in his honour. On social media, Dhoni has 8.6 million fans on Twitter. The fans have demanded to keep Dhoni’s jersey. Fans don’t want to see anyone else in Dhoni’s jersey
Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has not been seen in international cricket since the England World Cup. Finally, Dhoni said goodbye to international cricket on Saturday (August 15) on his country’s Independence Day.
Shant Dhoni’s aggressive batting, brilliant DRS and fielding setting will no longer be seen on the international cricket field. Meanwhile, Dhoni’s cricket fans have called for the number 7 jersey that he has worn for India for 16 years after his retirement to be removed.
One of the fans wrote on Twitter, “BCCI should keep the number 7 jersey in honour of the legendary Dhoni.” Another fan wrote, ‘Jersey number seven, not just a jersey or number. It is the passion of a country. MS, I will miss you. ‘
India wicketkeeper-batsman Karthik wrote on Twitter, “I would expect the BCCI to retire the number 7 jersey in white-ball cricket. Good luck to Dhoni for the second innings. I’m sure you’ll surprise us in your life too. ‘
Meanwhile, a BCCI spokesperson has confirmed that Dhoni will have the jersey number of the hero who won the 2011 World Cup for life. However, no official announcement has been made by the BCCI yet.
There is very little tradition of lifting jerseys on the cricket field. However, this has happened for special players. Earlier, the BCCI had kept Sachin Tendulkar’s number 10 jersey for life. Putting on the jersey means that no one will play cricket in the country after wearing that number.
