Mohsin Khan Likely to appoint as Pakistan Chief Selector

Mohsin Khan Likely to be Chief Selector of Pakistan Cricket Team

Former Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan is the favourite for the Chief selector head for the Pakistan Cricket team. The position was vacated by legendary former batsmen Inzamam ul Haq after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided not to renew his contract that ended in July 2019.

The sources also suggested that former captain Misbahul Haq and legendary former fast bowler and hall of Famer Waqar Younis were the favourites for the head coach and bowling coach positions, respectively.

They will now have deliberations to finalize their recommendations, and it seems that Misbah is a favourite to be named head coach with Waqar as a bowling coach,” the source said.

The news suggested that Mohsin Khan is expected to have greater responsibilities in the new cricket setup.

“Mohsin, who has remained as senior coach and acting head coach in the past, was invited by the Pakistan Cricket Board PCB to give an interview to the panel stating that he will be given great responsibility next week,” the source said. “The fact that Mohsin has called to Lahore and that he has resigned from the cricket committee after an agreement with the board means he will have some responsibility.”

The source further clarified that the Pakistan Cricket Board PCB had reached an agreement with Misbah after speculation hinted at a stalemate between the two parties regarding the terms and salary of the post.

“I don’t think Misbah ul Haq would have applied if he hadn’t agreed on his terms and conditions for working with the board,” the source concluded.
