Mohammed Shami Could be Going Jail Soon
Mohammed Shami has made headlines for an off-field controversy in recent months. He was charged with domestic violence and sexual assault by his wife, Hasin Jahan. Jahan and Shami were married on June 6, 2014, and the couple also has a daughter, Aaira, born in 2015. And now there are many chances and circumstances that indicate that the Indian Bowler Mohammad Shami could be going to jail soon.
The right-hand man is Hasin Jahan’s second husband, having divorced Sheikh Saifuddin in 2010. This marriage had initially turned out to be a peaceful marriage for Shami, although the roles have now been reversed.
Hasin Jahan filed an initial information report (FIR) against Shami on March 9, 2018, which was a problem for the Indian launcher. She accused her husband of domestic servant violence, adultery, and sexual violence. However, she even added allegations of murder, rape, and match-fixing on the pitcher that affected his career.
Because of the FIR, BCCI removed Mohammed Shami from the national contract list, but quickly awarded him a new one, as Shami had cleared all the corruption charges against him. It seemed that Shami could finally focus on his career, but now Jahan has again tried to trap Shami.
As a result of his complaint, the Alipore court issued an arrest warrant for the cricketer on 2 September 2019, following the same charges. We gave him 15 days to surrender. However, BCCI stated that they would not take any action against Shami until they had read the indictment.
“Yes, we understand that an arrest warrant has been issued. But don’t see us getting involved in this case right now. Once we have seen the indictment, we can decide the current situation and whether the BCCI constitution calls for action. But for now, I would say it’s too early to take a call on that,” said a BCCI official.
Mohammed Shami has been in his best form in recent years. He was an essential member of the Indian test team, which recently played against the West Indies. However, it would be interesting to see if Shami will be available to play the series against South Africa in 2019 or not.
He’s been in contact with his lawyer lately. He is also expected to return to India on 12 September. Let’s hope for the best.
