Mohammad Yousaf criticize Misbah ul Haq dual role appointment
Former Pakistan cricket Mohammad Yousaf criticize Misbah ul Haq’s dual role appointment as head coach and senior coach of Pakistan Cricket Team. While talking to reporters, the 45-year-old raised doubts about Misbah’s ability to infuse aggression into the Pakistan team.
“The Pakistan team lacks the technique, control and aggression,” Yousuf said. “Someone who could not demonstrate a positive thought in himself on the field of play despite being the captain, how could he improve the performance of the players?”
The 45-year-old also believes Misbah unfairly blamed others for his defensive tactics.
“When Kane Williamson reaches number three, he scores a century. Meanwhile, Misbah would wait for three wickets to fall so that he could claim that the situation justified him in playing defensively,” he said.
Yousaf also questioned the appointments at the PCB after he was not considering for the position of head coach of the U-19 team.
“It’s not about jobs. We say what is right for improving cricket in Pakistan. However, of course, the PCB wouldn’t accept it,” he said. “They just need people who can say ‘yes, sir!’ It is precisely what people like Intikhab Alam have been doing for 40 years.”
Misbah ul Haq confirmed as head coach of Pakistan’s men’s national team in all three formats on a three-year contract.
In line with the PCB’s commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability and clarity of roles at all levels, Misbah was also appointed President of Selectors with head coaches of the six first-class teams of the Association of Cricket as his fellow selectors.
Misbah’s first assignment will be the next three local ODI series and three T20Is against Sri Lanka, to played from September 27 to October 9.
