Mohammad Hafeez touched the 2000 runs milestone
Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has touched the 2000 runs milestone as the ninth batsman in the International Twenty20. The veteran cricketer is the second Pakistani to enter the Hazari club, a feat that Shoaib Malik has before.
Hafeez reached the milestone today (August 30) in the second of a three-match T20 series against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. He also became the first cricketer to touch 50 wickets and a 2,000-run double in the International Twenty20.
The 40-year-old experienced batsman came down to bat with 1992 runs in 92 matches. Hafeez hit a six to Shakib Mahmud in the 7th over of his game and entered the two thousand clubs. Then he extended the innings and brought a big collection to the team. Babar Azam’s fifty (56) and his 36-ball 5 fours and 4 sixes in an innings of 69 runs gave Pakistan a huge capital of 195 runs for 4 wickets.
At the end of the innings, there are 2061 international T20 runs next to the name. The other six batsmen to touch the 2,000-run milestone are Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Martin Guptill, Shoaib Malik, David Warner, Brandon McCullum, and Paul Sterling. Tamim Iqbal is the closest among Bangladeshis. 1856 runs in 6 matches.
Meanwhile, Hafeez became the first cricketer to take 50 wickets and double a run of 2,000 runs as he has already taken 54 wickets in the International Twenty20. Despite having 2335 runs with the bat, Shoaib Malik has 26 wickets with the ball (till this match). Shahid Afridi took 98 wickets with the ball 1416 runs.
