After Australia set England a daunting target of 383, the English team lost two first wickets from Pat Cummins bowling. After the fall of two wickets, England Captain Test Joe Root came in to save his team but he suffered one of the deadliest ball by Mitchell Starc which hit him right in middle and breaks his guard into two pieces.
Australia retained the ashes, with full performances from its bowlers and star hitter Steve Smith, who scored 211 in first and 82 in the second inning.
Meanwhile, Australian bowlers Pat Cummins amassed seven wickets in each inning, Josh Hazlewood took six and Mitchell Starc, who was the leading wicket-taking bowler at the 2019 World Cup, claimed four wickets.
In an attempt to save his team, Root had to endure a problematic phase when Pacer Starc launched a 140 Kmph that hit the abdominal guard of the England captain, after which Root fell to the ground feeling agonizing pain. As soon as Root fell, medical staff came immediately to check his condition.
