Mitchell Marsh named in Australia 12-man squad for 5th Ashes Test 2019
Australia named all-rounder Mitchell Marsh in 12-man Australian Squad for the final Ashes Test to play at The Oval starting Thursday. Marsh not played for Australia since December 2018 and has hired to provide additional bowling coverage. Travis Head removed from the squad.
“The reason Travis isn’t playing is that we felt we needed extra bowling after a long series,” Captain Tim Paine said, as cricket.com.au.
“We want to get the right makeup for this Test, and unfortunately Travis lost. He’s disappointed he’s not playing. He’s certainly in the top six or seven hitters in this country.”
The final XI will reveal in the draw. The inclusion of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, Australia’s best wicket-takers in this series, will depend on how they recover from the Old Trafford Test.
Australia has already retained the Ashes by winning the fourth test and thus taking a 2-1 lead in the series. They are now looking to record a victory in the series in England, something they haven’t done since Steve Waugh’s ‘Invincibles’ did it in 2001.
