Misbah ul Haq Seek High Salary Paycheck from PCB in Order for His Services as Head Coach of Pakistan
Former Pakistani captain Misbah ul Haq is interested to seek high and healthy salary Paycheck from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), in exchange for his services as head coach of the Pakistan Cricket Team.
According to the details and Reports, Misbah, who is the leading contender for the vacant head coach position of the Pakistan cricket team, wants his salary to be in line with his predecessor Mickey Arthur for this position. Arthur was paid $20,000 a month during his tenure, but the board is reluctant to pay such a huge amount to a local coach.
Another issue that could lead to a stalemate, between the two parties, relates to training in the Pakistan super league (PSL) Habib Bank Limited (HBL), which Misbah is interested in making while retaining the position of head coach of Pakistan.
It should be noted that PCB President Ehsan Mani made it clear that having dual roles, with the national side and a PSL franchise, will no longer be possible and the new PCB constitution also reflected the same thing. In the past, people like former head coach Inzamam ul Haq, head Coach Arthur and bowling Coach Azhar Mahmood played different roles with the franchises while working with the Pakistan team.
Sources have also stated that the above concerns were the reason Misbah stopped running for the position of head coach until the eleventh hour. It was only at the insistence of PCB, that he could not find an appropriate option to replace Arthur, that Misbah requested the role. The board’s announcement for the position was also attributed, taking into account the former captain’s ratings.
After a disappointing performance at the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in England and Wales, the PCB announced that it would immediately embark on a robust recruitment process and decided not to renew the contracts of Arthur, Mahmood, the batting coach Grant Flower and Coach Grant Ludden.
As part of the recruitment process, the Pakistan Cricket Board, PCB announced the four available roles and invited high-level applications from interested candidates.
In addition to Misbah, former Pakistani coach Mohsin Khan and former Australian cricketer Dean Jones have also applied for the head coach. Meanwhile, former Pakistani fast-bowling player Waqar Younis is one of the contenders for the position of a bowling coach.
Interviews for all positions will be conducted during the current week by a committee chaired by PCB Executive Director (CEO) Wasim Khan.
