Misbah ul Haq come forward as the front-runner for Pakistan Cricket Coach

Former Pakistani skipper Misbah-ul-Haq on Tuesday became the favourite to take over as Pakistan cricket coach PCB after Former Head Coach Mickey Arthur sacked after a disappointing World Cup 2019 Performance.

Misbah, Pakistan’s most successful test captain, retired from the executive committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board to clear the way for his application.

“I re-appointed the cricket committee and applied for the position of head coach of Pakistan, Misbah further describes the position of coach of Pakistan as a “dream.”

The four-member executive committee refused to renew Arthur’s contract after Pakistan failed to reach the World Cup semi-final in England and Wales.

The Pakistan Cricket Board PCB did not reveal whether anyone else had applied for the position. However, Pakistani media said former Australian batter Dean Jones and former West Indies pacemaker Courtney Walsh were among the applicants.

Misbah said competition for work would be challenging, but we would do it.

“It’s interesting to see my name emerge in the media even before applying.  I think there will be some more competent and highly qualified people who use for one of the most challenging jobs in the game.

Misbah had 26 wins out of 56 Test Matches as captain, with 19 losses and 11 draws. The Legend retired in 2017.

Pakistan is likely to announce its new head (Misbah ul Haq) ahead of the limited series against Sri Lanka that begins in Karachi from 27 September 2019.
