Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Unveils New Sponsor Byju Logo on India Jersey
The new India jersey with the byju shirt sponsor logo introduced in Dharamsala before the first T20I against South Africa on Sunday. Skipper Virat Kohli, Vice-captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Ravi Shastri launched the kit at a press conference. Byju replaced Oppo as the sponsor of the new jersey in July this year.
The agreement is from 5 September 2019 to 31 March 2022. Oppo had signed a five-year agreement with the BCCI in 2017, worth Rs 1079 million.
“The BCCI has a clause that allows the transfer of sponsorship,” a BCCI official said at the time. One source added that the transfer is a “tripartite agreement” between Oppo, Byju’s and the BCCI, which therefore will not lose money with the new sponsor paying the same amount as the previous one.
According to the agreement, Oppo was paying the BCCI Rs 4.61 million per bilateral party and Rs 1.56 million for an ICC event match.
Meanwhile, Indian players were also seen wearing practice Jerseys with the new sponsor’s logo at HPCA Stadium on Saturday.
