Kohli Request Dhoni Not to Quit Yet
There has been much speculation and rumor about the retirement of MS Dhoni after getting out in the semifinals of ICC World Cup 2019. MS Dhoni has been the subject of criticism since India’s heartbreaking withdrawal from the World Cup.
Recently, a report claiming that MS Dhoni will no longer be the first choice for the preservation of the Wicketkeeper. MSK Prasad, chairman of the selection board, also clarified the following, noting that Rishab Pant is the first choice Wicket Keeper for India in all formats. Rumors of Dhoni’s retirement have reached new heights after making himself unavailable for the upcoming series against the West Indies.
However, according to recent information, Dhoni is expected to continue until the T20 World Cup in 2020 and the credit for his stay goes to present Indian skipper, Virat Kohli. A report quotes: “It was only after Virat Kohli advised Dhoni not to leave his job immediately that Dhoni changed his mind” The report also indicates that, according to Virat, MS Dhoni is in top form and can continue until next year’s T20 World Cup. The report said:
“Virat believes that Dhoni has no fitness problem and can continue until the T20 World Cup next year, at the request of the team. The logic is that, while preparing Pant, the Indian think tank does not want any other wicket-keeper in the team. And if Pant suffers an injury or a loss of form during this time, then Dhoni can easily enter without any problems,”
