Kagiso Rabada to bank on past experience to thrive in India
South African player fast bowler Kagiso Rabada that his team would look to use the past experience of playing on the subcontinent when facing India in the next tasks. The Proteas are scheduled to play three T20s and so many Test matches against India.
Kagiso Rabada said at Training Camp
You have to figure out what you need to do to give the team a better chance of winning, that’s what I’m trying to focus at. Once you’ve played there before, you’ll have an idea of what to do in certain difficult situations.
South Africa had won the T20 ad ODI series but lost the tests during their last tour of India. The previous tour was successful because we won the T20 and ODI series, but the Test series was a bit confusing because those wickets were just terrible.
“If I could give an example, the first match test was 200 v 200 in the first innings. If we hit first, it would be a different ball game because we ended up having to chase the game. We lost 3-0 and beaten.”
When asked how they would approach the bowling during the tour, Rabada said, “On our recent tour to Sri Lanka,” were difficult conditions. There’s much talk about how to approach the spin, but we’ll see how it works.
“What helps is that there are guys who have played there in the past and I think what you can do is use what worked and what didn’t work during the Sri Lanka tour to have a base.
“When you go there for the first time, it’s weird, and you don’t know what to do. If you look at how Faf (Du Plessis) batted in Sri Lanka, he got off to a good start, which showed that he played there and knew the conditions.”
