Match Summary:

The first match of PSL 2020 was played between Islamabad Vs Quetta, the defending champion. At the start, it was looking that ISL will win, but QG won the game by three wickets with five balls to spare.

Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to bat first, which turned into the right step, with Quetta limiting Islamabad to a total of just under 168 runs. David Malan scores 64 runs, but apart from him, no one was able to turn his starts into great results.

Mohamed Hassanein started his campaign on PSL V along the lines of the latest version and picked up four scripts in a brilliant bowling game. He ran hard, made the ball slide across the surface, and did not allow the batsmen to leave.

Islamabad United started severely, as in the first over, Colin Monroe handed an easy pot to Muhammad Nawaz. Ben Keating showed his prowess in unmistakable terms and unleashed his slower Yorkers, ending with three wickets in his game-changing expression.

In response, Quetta also stumbled from the start, and Jason Roy left without making the score. He was given LBW in the second over, and Musa lifted the entire United team with his first scalp.

Shane Watson got into terrible confusion and ended up only scoring 15 runs. Ahmed Shahzad briefly increased Quetta’s problems for some time. Fahim Ashraf took his career halfway back to the opening game. Things start to calm down when Sarfraz Ahmed and strong hitter Azzam Khan forge a winning partnership. Sarfraz scores 21 runs, while Azzam drew attention with a powerful blow.

Quetta’s premature departure gave Islamabad a glimmer of hope to return to the party, but all those hopes faded when Nawaz scores 23 runs out-of-13 balls helping the team to win. Musa, the rising star, faced massive New Yorkers, bumpers and is undoubtedly one for the future. Akif returned with 1/21, but Fahim Ashraf did better.

However, Shadab Khan will have to bear most of the blame for his abysmal bowling performance, especially as a captain. The captain didn’t lead from the front and bled 46 runs in 3.3 overs.

Man of the Match:

Muhammad Husnain won the man of the match award for his four wickets for 25 runs.
