IPL 2020 final may be postponed
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the world’s largest and most prestigious domestic franchise-based domestic tournament, is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates due to the postponement of the T20 World Cup in Australia. India and the United Arab Emirates have already started preparations for this.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already given them an official letter to host the IPL in the UAE. But the UAE is waiting for the green signal from the Indian government. Although the schedule for the IPL has not been finalized yet, the chairman of the IPL’s governing council, Brijesh Patel, said the IPL would start on September 19. Which will continue till November 8?
However, the date of the IPL 2020 final may be postponed. That is what is being heard in the cricket ground. The IPL schedule could be finalized at the Governing Council meeting on Sunday (August 2). That is where the changed date of the IPL final can be decided. But under the changed circumstances, the possibility of making the final on November 10 instead of November 6 has been created.
If the final is taken from November 8 to November 10, then the mega tournament will be 54 days instead of 51 days. And if the final is on November 10 (Wednesday), this will be the first time the tradition has been broken in the middle of the week, on a busy day. Because other times the final was on Sunday. However, the official seal on the schedule will be read at the meeting of the governing committee.
However, if the final is postponed, the Indian team may get in trouble. Because the first Test of the four-match Test series will start in the first week of December. Due to the 14-day mandatory quarantine due to corona, you have to go much earlier. If the IPL final is late, Kohli may not get a chance to return to India. You may have to catch an Australian plane from there.
