India VS West Indies CWC19 Match 34 Result

Toss:

India won the toss and elected to bat first in the 34th match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Match Summary:

Skipper Virat Kohli’s half-century and outstanding bowling performance helped India to a 125 runs victory over the West Indies on Thursday. With this win, they secured their place in the World Cup semi-finals. Kohli scored with 72 runs to lay the groundwork for the match for 268 for seven in India after choosing to bat the first.  India, who moved England as the top-ranked one-day team, remain the only unbeaten team in the tournament and need only one win from their last three league matches to secure a place in the semi-finals.

The West Indies have joined Afghanistan and South Africa as three teams to withdraw from the race for the last four. Shami, who scored a hat trick in the previous game, reduced the score to 4-16, eliminating the dangerous Chris Gayle early after a snatched round from the opening score. But it was Kohli who won and became the fastest batsman to reach 20,000 international points in 417 laps. Indians Sachin Tendulkar and Caribbean drummer Brian Lara both needed 453 international laps to reach this record.

MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya increased the total, scoring 70 points for the sixth wicket to punish bowlers. Pandya hit 46 of 38 balls while Dhoni remained undefeated on 56, finishing the innings with a big six. The West Indies bowlers, led by Kemar Roach, had controlled India until the final stages, suppressing the flow of runs with regular wickets. Roach returned impressive 3-36 figures in his 10 outs, including India’s opener Rohit Sharma for 18. The West Indies got into trouble early in their response when Gayle mistook a small ball from Shami. From then on, everything was in freefall for a struggling Caribbean team that failed to maintain momentum after its first World Cup victory against Pakistan.

Man of the Match Award:

Virat Kholi was awarded as man of the match award for his amazing batting.
