Irfan Pathan on Jasprit Bumrah Hat-trick

India Blessed to Have Jasprit Bumrah in Squad, says Irfan Pathan

Former Indian Fast Bowler Irfan Pathan believes Jasprit Bumrah is the most important member of the Indian team and that his first Hat-trick against the West Indies will not be his last.

Bumrah took 13 wickets in two test matches, including a hat-trick in the first innings of the second Test Match to guide India to an all-round series 2-0 series in the Caribbean that propelled Virat Kohli and Co. to the top of the World Test Championship points table with 120points.

The 25-year-old rated one of the best in the world in all three formats, joined Harbhajan Singh and Irfan as the third Indian to claim a hat-trick in test cricket.

“I think he’s the team’s most important cricketer,” Irfan Pathan told IANS.

“When Jasprit Bumrah isn’t playing for India, it’s a bigger loss than any other person.” It’s such a vital part of the team. Indian cricket blessed to have a bowler like him,” said former Indian versatile bowler Irfan Pathan.

“India needs to take care of him. It is a kind of bowler that can succeed in all three cricket formats.” Irfan is the last Indian bowler to claim the test hat-trick who rattled Pakistan in the first test match back in Karachi 2006. “I’m pretty sure this won’t be his last hat-trick,” said Irfan, who has 301 wickets in all cricket formats. Irfan Pathan was also part of India’s T20 World Cup triumph in 2007.

“It feels out of the world. You know it doesn’t happen regularly,” the 34-year-old said when asked how it feels after receiving all three wickets in three consecutive deliveries.

“Some players cannot make a hat-trick in their career. Once you do that, you’ve achieved something weird,” said Irfan, who is now the mentor-coach of the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team, as well as commenting.

In his hat-trick memories, Irfan dedicates it to his family as without their support nothing would be possible, and It was so special for me.”
