I can bat at Number 4, Says Suresh Raina

Indian batsman, Suresh Raina has not given up his dreams in India and believes he can bat in the much-discussed number 4 spot for the team in the shortest format of the game.

Raina, who last played for India against England in 2018, is waiting for a return to the national team with two T20 World Cups in successive years, 2020 and 2021.

“I can be the No. 4 for India. I’ve hit that stall before and delivered. I’m looking forward to having a chance with two T20 World Cups to come,” he told The Hindu, 32, Thursday.

Not the batting point.4 has been a hot topic of discussion for the Indian team in the last two years. While attempting with Ambati Rayudu for a while, just before the World Cup in England, Vijay Shankar received the responsibility to play on the spot. However, once Shankar injured during the course of the tournament, Rishabh Pant designated as the hitter to play at Number 4.

However, Pant has not been able to do justice to its role and has faced harsh criticism from various sectors. He’s been accused of misjudging shots and not putting a price on his wicket.

Raina scored 5,615 ODI and 1,605 T20I runs, believes that the 21-year-old player seems confused right now and someone needs to sit down and talk to him.

“He seems confused; he’s not playing his natural game. He’s looking for singles, blocking, and he looks lost, ” said the lefty.

“Someone needs to talk to him like MS Dhoni would with the players. Cricket is a mental game, and Pant has to be backed up to play its attacking cricket brand. Right now, he seems to be playing under instructions, and it’s not working.” add.

The left-handed batter, who counted as one of the most energetic fielders in world cricket, also says that Dhoni has much to offer Indian cricket and can prove to be a worthy asset for the team at next year’s World T20.

“He’s still in shape, he’s still an excellent wicket-keeper, and he’s still the best finalist in the game. Dhoni will be an asset to India at the T20 World Cup.”
