HBL PSL 2020 Matches in Peshawar face Huge Obstacle
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) faces a difficult task about organizing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Habib Bank Limited (HBL) matches in Peshawar, during next year’s fifth edition. PSL 2020 is likely to play in Pakistan where Karachi to host the opening ceremony.
According to the details, the incomplete renovation work at Arbab Niaz Stadium is a huge obstacle in PCB’s plans to schedule matches in Peshawar.
The HBL PSL 2020 Peshawar Zalmi franchise expressed a desire to hold three games at its home venue, over the next season.
The General Manager Operations of PSL 2020 Usman Wahla responded an email consulted form Javed Afridi in which he said:
The stadium in Peshawar won’t be ready by the time next season begins, so we won’t consider it for PSL 2020 Season 5.
Upon receiving this news, Javed Afridi said he raised this suggestion on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s directives and had discussed the same with PCB President Ehsan Mani and managing director Wasim Khan.
Usman Wahla said in another email response:
President Mani will meet with Prime Minister Imran in the coming days, where he will discuss this matter only after those will able to comment further on this situation.
Sources further stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government shows interest in organizing HBL PSL 2020 season 5 matches in Peshawar, but the completion of the renovation work and convincing foreign players to play there is a major obstacle.
