The government of South Africa has taken control of cricket
The government of South Africa has taken control of cricket. And the future of the country’s cricket is now in the dark. The Proteas could lose their ability to play international cricket. As was the case with Zimbabwe.
For a long time, the name of Cricket South Africa (CSA) has been repeatedly mentioned in various negative headlines including corruption and irregularities. For which the government of the country has intervened there this time. They have brought cricket under their control.
The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) has sent a letter to the CSA, Cricketer said. A copy of which they have received. Where the CSA board, chief executive, and other administrative positions have been asked to step down.
As mentioned in the letter, the SASCOC has set up an inquiry committee where evidence of maladministration and irregularities has been found on the board. Which has tarnished the cricket of the country? The SASCOC maintains relations between the state and sports federations. So they have the power to control the administration of the CSA. The matter has already been decided in a meeting.
However, no statement from the ICC or CSA has been received so far. According to ICC rules, the government of a country cannot interfere in the activities of a country’s cricket board. If that happens, that country will lose the ability to play international cricket. Zimbabwe cricket is an example of this.
