South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first in the first match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Match Summary:

Ben Stokes ‘ all rounding performance helped England to beat South Africa in the first match of World Cup 2019 by 104 runs. Stokes scored with 89 to push England to 311-8, before keeping a brilliant shot at midwicket and taking the score to 2-12 with the ball. Jofra Archer took 3 wickets for giving 27 runs. He took the wickets of Aiden Markram, FAF du Plessis, and Rassie van der Dussen. Archer made his presence felt before he even took a wicket with a bouncer of Hashim Amla. Markram was on a slide against Joe root while du Plessis edged a hook for a long leg.

Quinton de Kock scores 68 runs on 74 balls which kept the Proteas afloat before leaving Liam Plunkett 2 for 37. AMLA come back with South Africa struggling at 167-6. The match was almost over for South Africa when Stokes plunging into the back and plunging succeeded a brilliant take in the abyss to return Andile Phehlukwayo.

AMLA’s courageous efforts to save the match but he was caught up by Plunkett and Stokes finished the match with a wicket of Imran Tahir. Stokes was one of four English batsmen to scored half a century. Eoin Morgan skippers, Jason Roy, and root crossed the 50-point bar. England lost Jonny Bairstow’s on the second ball of the match. Roy and root shared a score of 106 points before Morgan and Stokes added the same more runs. Du Plessis took the unorthodox decision to open with Tahir. The legend struck immediately when Bairstow was caught up by de Kock for a golden duck. Stokes then played a brilliant knock and was caught by the third man. Lungi Ngidi has finished with the figures of 3 for 66.
